Original Magazine Layout
This is an original magazine spread, on the video game Mass Effect 3. This one took me a long time but it was worth it, I really like how this one came out.
Magazine Layout Clone
This is the clone magazine layout I did. I copied it as best as I could, exactly like the original photo.

Illustrator to Photoshop Image
This was the image that was originally made in illustrator, then changed in photoshop. I added several effects, layer masks, and shadows to do things I could not do in Illustrator alone.

Custom Trace Drawing in Illustrator
This is an Xbox 360 wireless controller I traced in Illustrator, then colored/shaded. I have a few mistakes here and there that I tried to correct but had trouble, but I think thats ok, it shows that I have more to learn and work on. But besides a some little stuff, I'm really happy with how this came out, and I'm looking forward to doing more Illustrator work.

Color Wheel in Illustrator
For the color wheel, I made a standard one, then used the blend tool to create a rippling blur around the wheel. With two others made, re-sized, and drop shadows added, you have what is the final color wheel product. I thought the blend effect was really cool looking, and I might look for ways to use it again.
Pencil in Illustrator
I made the pencil first, then I decided to add the desk, paper, eraser and floor. It was easier to make the pencil then I thought after the tutorials, and overall it took me a fair amount of time.
Boxes in Illustrator
For the boxes assignment I drew 9 Nintendo Logos/Icons in Illustrator and colored/shaded them. I thought this would have a nice bright look, and it gave my some nice variety in shapes to draw, making it good practice.

Picture re-edit Collage
Here I mixed together all four pictures used in the assignments and put them in one scene. I put the rock climber girl on a mountain in the right corner, the crew rowers on the river, the statue as a tower on the bank, and the window on a cottage at the river's edge. With some reflections, shadows, and lighting, I completed putting all four pictures in one image.

Layer Masks Revised
I went back to my layer mask projects and fixed up a few things. In the first one I better blended the car and the background, by removing the visible edges and smoke trails the first one had left behind. In the second photo, I touched up the cruise ship, I changed the text's orientation, added a paved pathway under the ship with sand beginning to cover it up, and finally the moon highlighted by broad daylight. I also fixed the strange white streak previously covering the left side and middle of the palm trees.
Photo Re-Edits
For the cave re-edit, I changed the lighting and added elements of a cave to make look as if she was scaling her way out of a dark underground canyon.
I took the crew rowers from the original, and put them on a plain ocean background. I then added the shark, and made it much larger, and then finally the text and reflections.
Here I added vehicles , roads, doors, and clouds with lighting and shadows to turn the little statue into a large building.
For the window, I kept the basic re-touches, and then added in stars through the window, and then the planet on a separate layer. Then I re-colored the house.

Photo Re-touches
This is the climber photo with the markings in the rock re-touched out.
This has the waves and boat in the background touched out of the crew photo.
Here the gray was taken out of the bottom left corner and replaced by grass.
And here is the window rotated, cropped, and brightened in a re-touch.

Layer Masking Project #2
This one was also another attempt at blending images. I used the gradient tool to mix a jungle with a desert, and then selected a cruise ship, while adding shadows and shifting the sand. I once again also used the image in text to create a cool heading.
Layer Masking Project #1
This project was definitely different for me, as I had never used the gradient tool to blend images before. It creates a cool effect and I do like the way the two landscapes mix. Also learning how to put an image into text was a great tip to pick up, and I love the way it looks when used right.
Project Substitute Submission
This photoshop project started as a gag between me and my QU friends. I did a few of us, but then it turned into our whole group of ten being turned into Marvel super heroes. I really liked how it came out, and there was way more work put into it and more required of me than previous projects. I chose to opt this for a substitute submission over my avatar project. It was after all 25 layers of work, as oppose to like 5 or six. The superheroes used from left to right are Thor, Elektra, Black Widow, Storm, Captain America, The Hulk, Iron Man, Hawkeye, The Wasp, and Ms. Marvel. And yes, I'm the Hulk.

Multi-Layered Composition #2
My second attempt at selecting and multi-layering was just a randomly assorted symmetrical arrangement, with some color replacement and size changes to the original images.
Multi-Layed Composition #1
My version of the image w/selections |
The original image |
When looking at the useable selection objects from the class resources, I decided to go two different ways with my two compositions. For this, my first one, I decided to go for a more realistic layout, using a natural background and adding in the flower, fish, and feather, from the class resource, and then the duck from an internet image. Together, I selected them from their original backgrounds and blended them into this picture of a pond.
Image Replica
This is my replica of the resource picture used in class. Its completely made of new selections of the same items in a copy of the photo, but placed over the old best as I could. There are some things that hint at the selections being placed over the old, but its not major considering my inexperience with both photoshop and selections.

Avatar Image
First attempt at photoshop proved difficult but rewarding. The avatar project came out decent, there are things I like about it, but once I have Adobe CS5 in my possession as oppose to rushing to grab a spot on a lab computer I can really sit down and focus on getting it right. I know there's a lot of have to learn and a lot to fix about the picture, but I really only was able to get 2 hours of work time, so for a first time I think its pretty alright. Looking forward to taking another stab at it.
